The Academic might not be a household name yet, but it looks like they'll be there this time next year. It was just a year ago that one of their members was still in school (seriously), but since then they've opened for Catfish and the Bottlemen, Noel Gallagher, and their fellow Irishmen in Kodaline, in addition to supporting The Strokes' sold out show at Hyde Park - and that's just the beginning.

The band are on the first wave of artists announced for this year's SXSW in Austin Texas, marking their first shows stateside. They'll also be Ireland's representative at Eurosonic Festival in the Netherlands - and all of this is before they've even dropped so much as an EP. That's all about to change tomorrow when their debut EP Loose Friends featuring the previously released 'Different' and 'Northern Boy' and three new tracks as well. Filled with some of the most massive choruses I've heard all year and guitar riffs that sound like they'd be better suited to arenas, Loose Friends is a breath of fresh, honest, and youthful air. There are so many reasons they've earned over 650,000 streams on Spotify and had the number 1 single on Irish radio this year with only two tracks to their name, and you dive in for yourself by streaming Loose Friends in full below.
