With a pacemaker in his chest, Stefan Pruett, who records professionally as The Guidance, has always sought to bridge gaps -- man and machine, new and old, pop and grunge. As he prepares a new LP, due out sometime early next year, Pruett is dropping 'Next Time,' a joyous new track that certainly skews closer to the pop side of his oeuvre, with tremendous results.

Neon-soaked synths, punchy drums and slippery guitars give 'Next Time' an exceptional sonic palette. The song just feels like a euphoric Friday night out. Most of us tie music to real-life experiences and The Guidance seems to lean into this on 'Next Time.' One can imagine this track soundtracking many car ride singalongs and drunken make outs, and that almost feels like the song's mission.
