I've been lucky enough to see a good number of live shows. Few bands could ever claim to be as viscerally exciting as Black Pistol Fire, the Austin-based, Toronto-originated rock and roll duo composed of guitarist/vocalist Kevin McKeown and drummer Eric Owen. And what better way to ring in the New Year than with 'Level,' a bruising new single from the pair, signaling that 2019 could be the Year of Black Pistol Fire.

Full of bluesy swagger and pulse-pounding riffs, 'Level' is classic Black Pistol Fire. McKeown spits vitriol -- "What do you take me for?" -- as his guitar screeches and sears over Owen's raucous drumming. It is pure, cathartic thunder. 'Level' proves that the claims of rock and roll's death have been greatly exaggerated.

You can stream Black Pistol Fire's 'Level' up above and be sure to keep your eyes open for more from McKeown and Owen in 2019. They aren't likely to stay quiet.
