Last year Craig Finn released his third album We All Want The Same Things, his most satisfying solo collection to date, featuring one of our favourite songs of the year, 'God In Chicago'. Now he has returned to his main project The Hold Steady, bringing his renewed sharpness with him.

Also returning to the band after an extended break is their former keyboardist Franz Nicolay, who was with them through their classic first 4 albums. In listening to the new singles, 'Eureka' and 'Esther', it's amazing just how much difference it makes to have him back in on the action. His melodic and urgent interjections of keys are really a trademark of The Hold Steady's classic sound, and it's absolutely wonderful to hear him playing with them again. Listen to 'Eureka' and 'Ester' below, ahead of their release on streaming platforms next Monday.

News about a new album from The Hold Steady is forthcoming, but they will be playing 3 nights in London this weekend as part of their Boys And Girls In London event. All nights are sold out, but you can surely find someone selling a spare ticket if you look hard enough.
