It's been 17 years since we last had an album by The Jesus and Mary Chain, but it seems the follow-up to 1998's Munki may be arriving pretty soon. Frontman Jim Reid recently given an interview to Time Out New York in which he revealed the band had begun working on a new LP, something they've been teasing since reuniting back in 2007: "We actually just started recording," Reid says. "It's early days, but I would say it's a more mature sound for the Mary Chain. But let's just wait and see."

The Jesus and Mary Chain have recently been commemorating Psychocandy's 30th anniversary by playing the legendary album in concert. You can catch them live at London's Forum next March.
