It's about time we stop celebrating mediocrity and begin hailing innovation, as unprecedented as it may be. Harvard student, Obasi Shaw took a huge risk with his final thesis and it paid off when he handed in his dissertation in the form of a rap album.

The 20-year-old spent a year working on the project, which he titled Liminal Minds. It consists of ten songs written from a different character's perspective and it was inspired by his mother and Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales, which focused on the black identity.

After he graduates, Obasi will be working for Google as a software engineer. Listen to the project in full below.
