In the wake of Sonic Youth's ultimate demise—a result largely of his divorce from fellow band-member Kim Gordon—Thurston Moore has announced plans for a forthcoming single.

The track, Moore reveals, was inspired by his move to Stoke Newington, the emerging edgy haven of Hackney. Simply titled 'Stokey', the single will be released as a 7" on Blank Editions next February. The single's B-side 'Detonation' was driven to "pay homage to N16 London libertarian and communitarian activists." The other cut on the limited edition release, 'Germs Burn', is described as "a celebration shout to punk rock secret society love."

Moore will also be performing alongside fellow Sonic Youth member Lee Ranaldo next week at The Garage in London.
