In the latest in a string of performance-enhancing, or image-bettering, updates to the platform (giving it the air of a work-in-progress; perhaps the re-launch was a little hurried) Tidal announces that it has teamed up with ticketing site, Ticketmaster.

The new collaboration works by allowing users to view tour dates for their favourite artists on Tidal, simultaneously displaying the option to buy tickets for live shows through the streaming service itself. As yet, this is US-only.

Other improvements include the beta-launch of a desktop player, enabling members to better their experience through "gapless" play, support for media keys, and more control over sound output – as well as updates to the mobile app that will improve functionality, offer a prominent "offline mode" button, alongside an updated menu and icons thrown in with some new personalisation options.

• Here's why we don't necessarily think Tidal is "for all", despite what Jay Z tweets.
