Tim Westwood, popular and award winning hip-hop DJ on BBC Radio 1, has left the station after 20 years.

Radio 1, in the process of switching up its schedule, cut Westwood's Saturday evening show, which was also heard on 1Xtra. The new Saturday line up begins at 7pm with Mistajam, Charlie Sloth at 9, and wrapping at 11pm with DJ Target. Westwood's program was moved to Saturdays from its original time slot last year.

Westwood, and his Radio 1 Rap Show, grew in popularity as the first mainstream UK DJ to play US hip-hop. He cut his teeth broadcasting on pirate stations before moving to "legal" radio in 1985. [via FACT]
