  • Artist: Twin Shadow
  • Track Name: 'To The Top'

Twin Shadow have released a new song called 'To the Top'. We know George Lewis Jr. is back in the studio working on his follow-up to 2012's Confess, but where exactly this song fits in with that is unclear at the moment. The statement he's released about it doesn't exactly clear much either: "What is it when you realize that someone isn't right for you? Or when you find that you do not and can not posses someone entirely? You want someone so bad and it feels like hell.

"It's not like the first time, once loved love evolves, and you no longer have as much control, and it frustrates you. I think because of this feeling we find ourselves constantly wanting to reset, like new years resolutions, like dreaming up moments from the past where the ending flips on its head, like true forgiveness...We just want to say 'wait wait wait, this went too far in the wrong direction, can we try that again.'"

This track is really good, and has a giant chorus that's all the right kinds of dramatic. So hopefully we'll get a less cryptic announcement soon. Stream or download 'To the Top' below.

Australian songstress Vanessa Elisha has been winning us over for a while now. First it was with her track 'Home to Me', then with her collaboration with J-Louis and Haan808 'Waves', and now she's got a brand new song titled 'Midnight Swim' that's as lovely as ever. Her smooth voice flutters perfectly over the production - done by GXNXVS - much like the moon glitters over the water if, say, you were to go out for a midnight swim. Stream the track below, and let us know what you think!

  • Artist: Isagen
  • Track Name: '穏やかな境目'
  • Location: Kyoto, Japan

  • Author: Matt Korman

Late last month, Tokyo imprint CALMLAMP released the fifth entrant in its wonderful ongoing series PixaPhonica.

Included in the newest mix is Kyoto act Isagen, who hemmed together the marvellously delicate '穏やかな境目'. The production sows together loose drums and airy vocal loops in what the label politely describes as "folktronica." But its only a sample of the wonderful effort that CALMLAMP has mustered together.

The instalment, which correlates with dozens of local artists for a mind-bending array of new, ingenious sounds, can be downloaded with more expressive detail at the label's official website. Listen to '穏やかな境目' for a preview below.

Right from the get-go, the new song from Wolf Alice, 'Storms', grabs you and doesn't let you go until it's over. Much like a storm, it opens with a blistering wall of noise before letting up, allowing Ellie Rowsell's gorgeous vocals to shine through like sunshine, but you're immediately hit with that wave of hard-hitting guitar work right after leaving little time for a breath. The track is taken from the group's forthcoming EP Creature Songs, which was produced by Catherine Marks (Howling Bells, Foals) and recorded at ICP studios in Belgium.
