Well, there we have it. Our hopes and dreams for the Three Lions dashed on the rocks like soft skulls; if we lose to Costa Rica in single digits, it'll be a miracle. Probably best we chalk this up to something out of our hands – are the planets all in order, or are they dicking bout? Fecking Mercury.

Let's drink our woes away with some blood-pumping, adrenaline-injection tracks from Ryan Hemsworth, alt-J, Sega Bodega, Broods and Hartheim.

Just a year ago, whenever Montreal producer Ryan Hemsworth debuted a track is was as much appreciated as it was expected. It seemed there wasn't a week or two that went by without some new surprise remix or EP from the exploding producer, so maybe we didn't cherish it enough.

While he hasn't "slowed down" quite so much, the efforts from Hemsworth have become slightly more scarce in 2014. So his new track with Japanese artist Qrion was a bit refreshing. For a split second, Hemsworth seemed to be out of the spotlight and everyone missed it.

Much like his previous efforts, 'Every Square Inch' is a vacuum of romantic bedroom production and supreme world vision. The hypnotic vocal sampling is immensely cheery and warm, but Hemsworth maintains that the track is "not about kissing or anything like that."

Sampling Keyshia Cole's 'Love', producer Sega Bodega introduces his addition to Ryan Hemsworth's Soundcloud series Secret Songs with 'Jansen'.

Hemsworth, obviously, is a big fan of Sega Bodega's contribution, saying, "You should've heard the other demos Sega sent me. He's sitting atop an empire of extremely mature, calculated electronic music. I was excited he wanted to share this track; hard not to feel how deep and personal it is. I love a producer who can express what's inside them so well with, essentially, instrumental music. outspoken in emotion. Please listen to this one with the lights out."

Bodega, the Glasgow native, noted that the track was "The result of monging out on the black keys. The sample is Keyshia Cole's 'Love', so it was only natural that it be called 'Jansen'."

It's been a while since we've heard new material from alt-J—two years, in fact, since the band released their acclaimed LP, An Awesome Wave.

The trio is back with 'Hunger of the Pine', a track that explores new sounds while still remaining delightfully alt-J-ish. The song is hypnotic and filled with longing – even with its Miley Cyrus sample (yes, really).

'Hunger of the Pine' is an exciting first taste of the band's upcoming second album, This Is All Yours, which will be released September 22nd.

  • Artist: Hartheim
  • Track Name: 'Welcome To Hartheim'
  • Location: Manchester, UK

We introduced you to the Manchester five piece Hartheim back in January with their song 'Yellow', and now they're back with their sophomore single 'Welcome to Hartheim'. The band say that the song serves as a proper introduction to both the historic name of the band and the band itself, crafting intricate contrasts between dark and light with their warped, off-kilter pop. 'Welcome to Hartheim' sneaks in with an atmospheric narrative before taking your breath away with its thundering climax. Stream the track below!

If you want to see them live, they'll be playing a gig at the First Chop Brewing Arm in Manchester on 21 June supporting BIRD.

Broods have returned with catchy new single 'Mother & Father', which premiered on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show earlier today. The Auckland duo have once again worked with Lorde's producer, Joel Little, and the result is a hook-laden, anthemic summer jam. The track is available on iTunes now and will be released via Polydor Records August 11th.
