Audun Laading and Stephen Fitzpatrick are the Liverpool-based duo Her's, who will be releasing their debut album Invitation to Her's on August 24th through Heist or Hit. They recently brought us the irresistible 'Low Beam', turning toxic masculinity into something kind of cuddly in their unique manner. Today they follow it up with 'Harvey', a low-key funk pop song which fully embodies their naturally welcoming spirits.

“Our band works because it was born out of friendship, friendship didn't come from the band," they've told us in the past, and that bonding agent between the core partnership is what makes their quirkiness roll with confidence. On 'Harvey' they turn that bonhomie on another friend of theirs, the titular Harvey, to whom the song sings unending and heartwarming praises. "Suffice to say this is a quaint affair/ but no one really knows me like Harvey/ And once you've met him I'm sure you'll agree," comes the casual introduction, delivered over moonbeam synths, instantly luring you into this close-knit group of fun-loving friends. 'Harvey' picks up with a subtly swaying beat and insistent click that takes us through instances of companionship, delivered in conversational crooning and clipped asides, which resound with the love and appreciation of their friend. This leads to the utterly devotional chorus "Harvey, nobody knows what I see/ everyone think I'm crazy, crazy for you oh boy," which sweeps us off our feet and we soon find ourselves helplessly caught up, sampling the sweet summer air of romance, clapping along to the joyous outro.
