Californian artist Jessica Pratt recently announced her third album Quiet Signs for release through City Slang on February 8th. The lead single 'This Time Around' ushered us once more into Pratt's hazily beautiful worldview, and today she follows it up with the equally wondrous 'Poly Blue'.

The first thing to catch the attention in 'Poly Blue', for long time Pratt listeners, is the involvement of added instrumentation; a magical flute line dances regally about her central guitar, a morse-code like synth line hops in for some rhythmic fun and you can even catch some wisps of piano fluttering beneath it all. This is all appropriate for Pratt's spinning a tale of adoration in a lovelorn young man; "Somewhat hapless in his touch /He's the undiscovered night." Typically poetic in her writing, Pratt's metaphors could be interpreted in so many ways, each of them as captivating as the next. This inchoate and imaginative writing allows our minds to wander alongside her as she carefully coos her advice to the young woman in this coupling; "Please know that there's no other boy like him you'd hope to find /So young girl be kind/ On your morning wings you'll fly."

Once again Jessica Pratt has proven her singular ability for poetic narrative and graceful feather-like instrumentation in 'Poly Blue'. Check it out below.
