Jordan Rakei has revealed the details of his third album: it's called Origin and comes out through Ninja Tune on June 14th. The rising singer has already impressed with his first 2 albums, and seems to be going even more ambitious for his third, which was inspired by his belief that "we’re losing a sense of connection.” He has taken inspiration from a breadth of speculative fiction around the topic, from Black Mirror to The Handmaid's Tale, which has fed into Origin

The first single 'Say Something' taps into this, with Rakei saying it's “about speaking up for what you believe in.” The beauty of 'Say Something' is that it's so smooth and soulful that you can enjoy it purely for its interwoven melodies and Rakei's mellifluous tones - but there is a deeper message to be taken away should you want to delve into it. The insistence from Rakei to "say something" is made sweeter by his intricate production and glazed harmonies backing him up. 'Say Something' is a fresh-sounding song planted in contemporary thoughts and styles, but with its eyes and mind on the future - it promises Rakei's album will do much the same.
