A month ago, Mitski came belting forth with the track 'Geyser' and news of a new album called Be The Cowboy, due August 17th on Dead Oceans. The excitement was palpable, but then came the wait... The album is still some weeks off, but today Mitski has released a new song and video, 'Nobody', which will more than sate fans in the meantime.

'Nobody' is perhaps the most overtly pop song that Mitski has ever released, starting on disco drums with a protagonist as open and emotive as ever, this time an isolated woman who is "so lonely" that she "opens the window to hear the sound of people." With itching guitar and dancefloor synths dropping in after our initial introduction, 'Nobody' bounds forth as Mitski continues to pour out confessions, admitting "give me one good movie kiss and I'll be alright." Ultimately, though, she is left with the titular 'Nobody' - but she's still got the groove to dance the pain away.

'Nobody' comes parcelled with a fantastic video directed by Christopher Good, which is reminiscent of classic Michel Gondry clips of the past. Mitski says of the experience of making the 'Nobody' video: "We shot this video over five days, in both sides of Kansas City. I've never been able to take this much time to shoot a video, so it was wonderful to have the space to get the details right, as well as actually hang out and have fun with everyone involved. This video made me fall unexpectedly in love with Kansas City."
