Jockstrap are a pair of 20-year-olds from London, Georgia Ellery and Taylor Skye, who have no shortage of ambition and drive, judging from their debut single and video 'Hayley'. Inspired by the Louis Theroux documentary Louis and the Brothel, Jockstrap's is a fictionalised account of 'Hayley', a sex worker from the film.

“There’s this prostitute called Hayley, she’s very charming, intelligent, gorgeous. Louis falls for her - the chemistry is so blatant. It’s about her, and the back story I made up about her,” Georgia explains.

The already-unusual story finds a perfect vessel in Jockstrap's wonky synth-based pop music. 'Hayley' is a bubbling and neon track, packing a freshness and an magnetism into simplistic synth patterns. Its awkward wiggle and chintzy click track at first suggest a spoof, but when the strings, bass and Georgia Ellery's satin vocals kick in, the result is undeniable. Ellery is unflinching in her vocals and lyricism, delivering lines about giving blowjobs with the impassivity of a long-time sex worker. Ever unpredictable, 'Hayley' dives into a hole of compassion for its protagonist, the gaudy electronics providing a perfect foil for the gritty reality of the words.

The low budget video for 'Hayley' takes everything up to even more unusual and engrossing extremes, playing out a tale of desire and obsession resulting in unavoidable drama. Georgia Ellery told The Fader: "The video was filmed in a day on my street and in my flat by Charlie Melville. Everyone in the video is a band member or a very good friend. The best thing about this video is the acting. almost all of the cast felt uncomfortable acting out what I wanted. But thats when the movie magic happens baby."

'Hayley' will be released on digital platforms tomorrow. Jockstrap have some live dates planned for the coming months, catch them at these dates:
