Brighton band Our Girl have had people buzzing over their thrumming indie rock for a little while now, and excitement is certainly building as they head towards the release of their debut album Stranger Today on August 17th. The latest missive from the trio is the scorching 'In My Head'.

“I wrote this song during a big time of change in my life which informed a lot of the record,” explains Soph Nathan. “I was feeling particularly confused and regretful about it all one day and the lyrics just came out in one go. Musically it took a bit longer. The bass and vocals were there from the start so it was just figuring out how to build the rest on top. We gave up on it for a while, and about a year after that we played it in a soundcheck in Leeds without thinking, and it all just came out right! It’s one of our favourites to play live now.”

The sizzling, almost primal, way that Our Girl's three-pronged attack intertwines is at its most muscular on 'In My Head'. The broiling atmosphere is a perfect amphitheatre for Soph to unload her tortuous feelings, their swaggering riffs belying the tension in the core idea: "I forget that other people haven't been in my head." The track then descends into more sweaty writhing of guitar and bass, while the drum marches on and Soph recedes further into her thoughts, yearning for us to join her.
