Christian Alexander is a 20-year-old songwriter and producer based in Preston, England. It's a place not necessarily known for its musical scene, but this has meant that he has grown up in a petri dish of internet influences, heedless of boundaries between so-called genres. Tyler, The Creator, Frank Ocean and Mac Demarco are three names cited as influences, and that is everything from their style to their work ethic to their aesthetic, which he has taken on board and reprocessed into his own on 'Going Thru'.

A lo-fi atmosphere is immediately set by a fuzzy guitar loop and Alexander's compressed vocals. The production only enhances the emotion at play in his voice, which is desperately soulful, and echoes of Frank Ocean's early material. 'Going Thru' is a conflicted confessional, Christian Alexander admitting to overly drinking and being empty, completely broken hearted but still desperate for affection from his unrequited love. The sheer broken down purity of the recording and its message immediately conjures the lonely bedroom in which it was composed, and the gauzy effects overlayed in the song add deft shading to his feelings. 'Going Thru' is a potent track, bringing to light a new talent in Christian Alexander.

While 'Going Thru' will be a standalone single, Christian Alexander will be releasing a self-produced mixtape later in the summer.
