Rising songwriter Arlo Day released the single 'Bad Timing' recently, introducing herself as a subtly dramatic artist to watch. Today she follows it up with 'This Love', the second track to be aired from her debut EP Bad Timing, which comes out on May 31st through Domino.

Introducing the new single 'This Love' Arlo says: “I wrote this song at a turbulent time in my life, it's about an unhealthy kind of love with someone you know isn’t good for you, and trying to protect yourself from pain even though it may be inevitable.”

Arlo Day's tempestuous but understated style is the perfect vessel to examine these feelings of uncertainty and hesitance. There is an anger and a fear lurking just under the seemingly calm surface of her guitar and equanimous voice, but she keeps them at bay instead focusing the listener on her words. Throughout you expect 'This Love' to explode into some kind of catharsis, but Day keeps it brilliantly muted; there are sparks in her guitar playing, but rather than expanding, it deepens with her words and the subtle instrumentation bubbling just beneath - and its all the more captivating because of that.

The Bad Timing EP is out on May 31st, you can pre-order a limited edition 10" here. She's got these live dates coming up:
