Just a few weeks from the heartfelt letter to fans and release of new song 'Playwright', Trevor Powers has released two more brand new songs and revealed the details behind his first album under his own name. Mulberry Violence is set to be released on August 17th through his own label, Baby Halo.

With new tracks 'Ache' and 'Plaster Saint', Powers is certainly still using techniques he began with Youth Lagoon, but working now under his own name he seems more comfortable experimenting even further with textures and production techniques. 'Ache' shows his more confident side, with a steady pulse accented by plucked strings, harmonising nicely with Powers' confident off-the-wall vocal. This is possibly the most subtly muscular we've heard Powers in any form, and it suits his newfound production prowess.

'Plaster Saint' is a reserved and introverted affair, built on stuttering percussion and desperately delicate piano, as well as innumerable little aural quirks that accentuate his individuality. The overall effect is like Powers staring out of the rain-drenched windows of his soul, watching memories slide around in the warped reflection.

You can check out both tracks below. Powers has also shared a statement about Mulberry Violence and announced tour dates, which you can see beneath.
