Whitney's debut album Light Upon The Lake may have only been 31 minutes, but it packed a shed load of emotion and care in. It's no surprise then that the duo of Julien Ehrlich and Max Kakacek have taken three long years to lovingly craft the follow-up, but they have now announced that their new album Forever Turned Around will be out on August 30th through Secretly Canadian.

The announcement comes with new track 'Giving Up', which immediately enfolds you into its bosom with like an old friend with sun-dappled pianos and utterly wistful guitars. Ehrlich's vocal is characteristically emotive, especially as on this occasion he's singing about a break-up, an imminent one, where he can feel his lover drifting from him - and he's powerless to stop it. The effect is stunning amidst Whitney's luscious backdrop, but the blow is softened by ribbons of strings and horns. 'Giving Up' takes the Whitney formula from their debut, and rather than change it massively, just makes it more sophisticated and luxurious.
