Quite a few months ago, during this columns little obsession with all things Tilda Swinton I believe, I included a Japanese trailer for up and coming, Snowpiercer. Well the time has come when the powers at be have finally decided that this is something Western audiences do in fact want to see and has a, somewhat disappointing, limited release in American in late June. No date has been released to a UK release but I wouldn't be surprised to see one pop up in the next few weeks. Excuse me while I hop back on board the 'we love Tilda Swinton' train.

And over to the land of sequels we never asked for is Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. While they have upgraded James Franco for Gary Oldman, what I gather from the plot line is something akin to Avatar in which humans come in a start war for no good reason other than boredom and some strange revenge fantasy. Also apes on horse and driving tanks. I bet the special affects department had some good laughs creating those images...

The award for the most superfluous film title goes to Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. We get it, you had a bad day, go listen to that Daniel Powter track and get over it already.

And finally I'll leave you with the trailer for new James Brown bio-pic Get On Up. The contenders for award season appear to be starting early.
