With two years under her belt since the release of tUnEyArDs' whokill, Merrill Garbus is hard at work on recording a new record.

Writing a post for The Talkhouse, Garbus said the new album is tentatively titled Sink-O, a reference to the word syncopation and borne out of her recent obsession with drumming and rhythm. Giving us a peek into what to expect from the new record, Garbus calls it "chaos" - where she’s trying all things rhythmic in the songwriting process and desiring to defy the expectations of Western musical traditions.

Inspired by a trip she and the band took to Haiti, Garbus has been studying drumming from a Haitian born musician as well as diving into folk and contemporary dance classes. With all her new artistic explorations, Garbus is sure to deliver some exciting music when we finally get to hear the new album.
