New Yorkers Turnip King were born out of a basement and it shows. 'Rooms/Fleece' is a perfect execution of underground grunge that oozes the influences of the 90s without being copy-cats. The song is a matter of two halves - hence the title. The first half consists of sweet American-accented vocals whining over scuzz-fuelled simple guitars before bursting into a pop-worthy chorus.

The song then takes the tempo down a notch and guides us into a hazy head-bobbing jam. It doesn't last long mind, as Turnip King are quick to take things back up with a screeching conclusion and shouted echoes. It's the first single to be taken from their new EP, to be released on Fire Talk records late next month.
