We had a chat with Vancouver synth maestro Nikki Nevve, aka Terror Bird, about her musical influences, including Kate Bush, David Bowie and Depeche Mode.

Terror Bird's third album, All This Time, is out now on Night School Records. Listen to it below!

Kate Bush - Hounds Of Love

I think you can hear it pretty clearly in the song All This Time that I'm pretty influenced by Kate Bush. Of course this album is much weirder than All This Time, but I tried to channel her by singing in a very high pitched voice. I also love the album The Dreaming.

Alphaville - Forever Young

I became obsessed with this album last spring, and love a lot of 80s male singers. Alphaville writes such great upbeat, romantic pop songs. I especially love the songs 'Summer in Berlin' and 'Victory of Love'.

Depeche Mode - Violator

I like pretty much all the 80s Depeche Mode albums, but picked this particular one as an influence because a good friend of mine said that All This Time reminded him of Violator. I've loved Depeche Mode since I was 16.

David Bowie - Heroes

This isn't my favorite Bowie album. I prefer Ziggy Stardust, The Man Who Sold the World, Diamond Dogs, and Space Oddity. But I love the song 'Heroes' and I might even say the words "We can be heroes" in 'If You Try to Break Me'.

Billy Idol - Rebel Yell

I was listening to this album on repeat for the past 8 months, so I'm pretty sure I want to be Billy Idol.
