Calgary group Viet Cong spooked us back in November with their video for 'Continental Shelf' but gave no tips on whether or not it was from a new album. The veil has been lifted from that piece of information today as they've detailed their new self-titled album - out on 20 January - which includes the aforementioned track and their new one, 'Silhouettes'. If you were a bit turned off from the super dark sound they took on the first tune, you'll be thrilled to hear that their new one's a lot more energetic and electrifying. In an interview with Consequence of Sound, he explained that there's a good reason for that, too - he was inspired to write the song after he was electrocuted during a gig.

“Being partially deaf at the time is the only excuse I can offer you for writing a vocal line that sounds so similar to Warren Zevon’s ‘Werewolves of London’". He continued on to explain that “Other than that, the song deals with themes that are common and dear to me: disconnection, intoxication, lapse of memory, regret, and the ability to laugh something off.”

You can check out the tracklist for Viet Cong after the song and take a look at their expanded North American tour dates there as well, in addition to their ridiculous European touring itinerary.
