"Shoutout to Spotify. Thank you for giving me this check to make up for what you've done to me and all my musical friends," Vince Staples said, blasting into Spotify while performing at SXSW's Spotify House on Tuesday. He took time out of his set to criticize the streaming service for how little they pay artists, continuing by stating, "listen to your favorite album 1,000, 2,000 times so everybody can get an album sale."

Last year, Joanna Newsom spoke out against Spotify with similar criticisms, calling it a "cynical and musician-hating system" and "the banana of the music industry," while Jay Z recently removed the entire Blueprint series from the streaming service.
