In September 2011, dancehall and reggae icon Vybz Kartel was arrested and charged with the murders of Barrington 'Bossy' Burton and Clive Lizard Williams. This initial charge was thrown out last year after Jamaican police lost key pieces of evidence, but Kartel has remained in jail due to his connection with Williams' murder.

Williams' body was never found, but prosecutors alleged he had been drawn to the singer's house and beaten to death over two missing illegal guns Kartel believed he had taken. This, along with messages found on Kartel's phone that described how Williams' body would never be found because he had been chopped into "mincemeat", resulted in Kartel being found guilty of murder yesterday at the end of a 65-day trial, the longest running in Jamaica's circuit court system. Kartel will be sentenced on March 27th.
