Barack Obama has hosted an Independence Day BBQ for members of the military and their families since the beginning of his presidency and this year was no different. Okay, it was a little different, as the president invited Kendrick Lamar and Janelle Monáe to perform.

K.Dot performed tracks like 'Swimming Pools (Drank),' 'Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe', 'Poetic Justice', and 'Alright'. He also reworked the songs to cut out any swear words or anything controversial to keep it PG at the White House. Monáe performed 'Dance Apocalyptic' 'Q.U.E.E.N.', and 'Electric Lady.' Then, both artists joined President Obama on stage to help sing 'Happy Birthday' to his daughter, Malia, who turned 18.
