Heaven Adores You - the documentary about American musician/legend Elliott Smith (deceased more than a decade ago) - is still awaiting a proper release, however, the first few minutes of the Nickolas Rossi-directed film have been made available courtesy of AFI DOCS.

The project was Kickstarted back in 2011, with the unique selling point being that it would be the first film of its type to given permission to use the musician's original material. It also includes several interviews with people close to Smith, such as his sister Ashley, former bandmates and collaborators Jon Brion, Larry Crane, Neil Gust, Tony Lash, Brandt Peterson, Rob Schnapf, Kill Rock Stars' Slim Moon, and many others.

The newly released clip (which you can see below) features a brief conversation with Elliott Smith about his performance at the 1998 Academy Awards, where he was nominated for 'Miss Misery' (from Good Will Hunting).
