Having only just released their self-titled debut album last year, Wild Pink have already announced its follow up, Yolk In The Fur, for release on Tiny Engines on July 20th. It's an album that is said to be about “protecting something vulnerable.”

You can certainly hear that quality in the first single to be released from the album, 'Lake Erie' which quickly locks into a gear that is naturally breezy and dynamic. Broad washes of chugging acoustic guitar guide the song, with a propulsion and an openness that is reminiscent of classic era Death Cab For Cutie. John Ross' vocals are equally tender to match this dreaminess, but his lyrics are of heavier content: "it seems like there's a reason for it all / Why some ancient slime crossed a line / Now there's a war on all life on earth."

"This song is about growing up and moving on and about the struggle to not get caught up in anything that doesn't really matter. It's also for the Western New Yorkers in my life," Ross told NPR.
