In what was actually a journey through 80s tape loops came one of the early 2000s most invigorating, mysterious, and all-engrossing adventures in the form of William Basinki's Melancholia.

What was discovered by Basinki, who became a mainstay of the emerging ambient experimental scene with his legendary 2002 LP The Disintegration Loops, was that the ageing sounds of those tapes offered up a profoundly unique texture of mulled sounds and auras.

The re-mastered effort comes from Brooklyn label Temporary Residence, which will be releasing the brand new vinyl version April 29th. Pre-order a copy now and preview Melancholia below.
