Label: Black Records Release Date: 23/03/09 Website: www.iainarcher.co.uk Iain Archer’s latest album To The Pine Roots is a highly listenable offering, showcasing little songs full of sun-shine and lost-loves. Considering that the entire album really revolves around Archer’s vocals and his  accompanying acoustic guitar, Archer creates an impressive range of rhythmic sounds and styles over the album’s nine tracks. Many lovely lyrics are uttered by Archer’s softly intimate whispering vocals, and you can see why Archer’s 2005 Ivor Novello Award (for contributing to Snow Patrol’s albums) was well justified. Although folky in it’s dreamy essence, To The Pine Roots shouldn’t solely appeal to folk fans, but to fans of acoustic guitar music in general. Released this week, To The Pine Roots is a great little album with which to welcome in the Spring.
