Label: Bright Antenna Release date: 15/11/10 Link: Your Link Here Having dusted themselves down from their previous band, Leisure, Zak Lopez and Sean Stockham formed Middle Class Rut in 2007. They were soon causing a stir on local radio with many DJs getting hilariously over-excited about the two-piece garage rock outfit. ‘New Low’ is now being granted a re-release courtesy of their latest album, No Name No Color, a collection of songs from previous EPs. The single originally helped propel many of their champions clambering over each other to get a piece of that sweet Californian pie. The pie tastes a little stale. ‘New Low’ is a tense, uptight plod which, due to it being originally recorded three years ago, sounds slightly dated. This isn’t a surprise as it sounded dated when it was originally released. Full of defiant anger, the song struggles to get out of second gear. A rut indeed. Photobucket
