Label: Troubled Records Release date: 01/03/10 Website: Myspace Featuring present and ex-members of Sexy Kids, The Royal We and Your Twenties, London-based Veronica Falls are one of the hotly tipped bands for 2010 and I’m sure most of you have already heard of them and had a listen to ‘Found Love In A Graveyard’ on some blog or cool indie music magazine, so I guess the band doesn’t need much introduction. Opening with jangly guitars and heavy, solemn drums, ‘Found Love In A Graveyard’ is the proof that indie-pop is not entirely dead, or better, it is alive more than ever, but in a deadly, dark, goth way, that makes things even more interesting! ‘Stephen’, the b-side of the single, out on March 1st on Trouble Records, confirms the band’s legacy of C86 and the impression that the band will go far away. Maybe we’re in front of the heirs of The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart and we don’t even know it? Sure, comparisons are easy things, but there’s something about Veronica Falls that’s so original and vital, despite all the dark connotations of their sound, that will bring them out of the graveyard to the bedrooms of gloomy teenagers all over the world (and not only them) and up to the skies of twee success.
