Transforming from a red carpet premiere, to an elegant dinner party, to a fashion show, then to an exclusive concert was something only legendary designer Tom Ford could accomplish all in one night; and he proved that to be true in the live stream show of his Autumn/Winter 2016 collection. With couture pieces and a celebrity line-up to match, the night was filled with laughter, music and of course fashion.

From Rita Ora, to supermodel Iman (who made her first public appearance since the passing of her husband David Bowie) and right down to his best client and friend Julianne Moore, Mr. Ford rolled out the A-list guest list of the season, as they all made their way from the red carpet to a glamourous dining area accompanied by an elevated runway. The dimly lit ballroom with floral chandeliers and silver dinnerware illuminated the space, which made the perfect backdrop for the Autumn/Winter 2016 collection. Conversations filled the room from the guests' joyous banter and the lights dimmed the moment the models strutted to Alicia Keys' (who was also in attendance) hit single 'Fallen' down the catwalk.

The first set of looks from the collection were very reminiscent of the Netflix newest original hit The Get Down. Since the show was inspired by the '70s, cognac brown leather coats, grey suit sets and checkered patchwork on fur trimmed coats harked back to fashions of the TV show. As Screamin' Jay Hawkins' 'I Put a Spell on You' blasted on the speakers, the mood quickly switched from soulful strides to sensual glides. Accompanying the music's jazzy tones and mellow vocals, more long coats were displayed alongside monochromed dresses, which were paired with Ford's signature multiple buckle belts and doorknocker-like gold chokers. One standout piece from the first half of the collection was a floor length, long-sleeved red sequined gown. Paired with the eye-popping accessory of the multi-buckle belt and suede over-the-knee boots, the awe-worthy gown mimicked liquid lava as she cascaded from corner-to-corner of the runway, and took everyone's breath away with every stride.

From there, Ford brought in a cocktail of sequins, ostrich-like feathers, suede and leather that made everyone's heads turn. Packed with a modern approach with its sleek cuts and style, the second part of the collection added more new and daring styles that were set to turn heads and make major waves for seasons to come.

And as if showing the collection on a runway wasn't enough, guests were treated to the models making their way around the dining area for guests to feel, gaze, and experience the extravagant pieces up close. As celebrities readily got out of their chairs to gawk at the pieces they just saw on the runway, Mr. Ford got on stage to thank all his attendees, express his gratitude and love for their continuous support of his brand. He introduced his favourite singer Leon Bridges to the stage to treat guests to a four song mini concert. With only a saxophonist to his left and a backing vocalist to his right and guitar in his own hands, Bridges pulled the crowd into his soulful vocal runs and raspy voice as he serenaded attendees with his Jazz/blues catalogue.

Bringing a typical runway fashion show to New York Fashion Week was an understatement for the Tom Ford Autumn/Winter 2016 collection. It was the perfect comeback after pulling out last season and safe to say, it was worth the wait! In true Tom Ford fashion, the designer once again showed how he could win the hearts of everyone. It was all show and no tell.
