The AirPods may have been one of the most controversial moves Apple has made over the past few years, with users complaining about how easy it is to lose them or accusing Apple of a certain accessory totalitarianism for now allowing the non-wireless option. However, rumour has it that Apple is currently working on its own brand of high-quality over-the-ear headphones -- something that could arrive before the end of the year.

The news come through a report by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities which states that the company is planning for the new headphones to be "as convenient as AirPods with better sound quality," but also priced higher. This comes a full four years after acquiring Beats, a move that could not only be in the origin of this new interest for high-quality headphones but also influence loads of technical options.
