Some headphones beg for a review the moment you see them. Maybe they're generating a lot of buzz in tech circles, or maybe they look badass. Other times, you come across a headphone that probably warrants some attention, but doesn't seem to scream for it - the kind of headphone that can get lost among other models that look and perform on a similar level. The A-Jays Five is of the latter type.

The A-Jays Five comes packaged in its own matte black container that is about the size of a hockey puck. Inside, you'll find the earphones. In the box, there are some extra silicon ear tips, a cable clip, and a user manual.

Built with a flat cable to reduce tangling, the A-Jays Five also feature Jays Custom 5 driver, a 16-ohm impedance, and a frequency range of 18-23000 hertz. There is also a built-in mic and remote on the cable, and depending on which variant you have, that cable will work with iOS, Android, or Windows devices. Overall, the build quality is rugged and durable, and I get the impression that I would have a hard time breaking this headphone.

Comfort wise, the A-Jays Five may be a weird specimen. While the sit easily enough in me ears, they aren't incredibly comfortable or secure. I was more than happy to wear them looped over my ears with the sides switched so that the left was playing in my right ear and the right was playing in my left ear. This helped them stay in just as well, and they were all the more comfortable for it.

Sound quality on these earphones is fantastic - perhaps the best I've heard at this point. It more than gives the Sennheiser Momentum In-Ear a run for its money, and the shortcoming of this headphone could be the lack of bass. For those looking for a that driving, thumping low end, there may be better offerings from Audio Technica and Beyerdynamic. But for a well-rounded sound not out of place with more detailed recordings, the A-Jays Five may prove more than adequate.
