Self-described 'gothic pop' outfit Jape from Dublin have released their crazy new video for 'The Heart's Desire' and we're happy to premiere it here at The 405. The video shows frontman Richie Egan's disembodied head following what may or may not have been an explosion at the local Dulux factory.

We are plunged through a psychedelic Steve Zissou-esque underwater reef past colourful amoeba, lobsters and more floating heads. The video was directed by Conor Finnegan who gave us some insight on the DIY production behind the video: "All the underwater stuff was shot on a GoPro in a homemade tank in my back garden. I'd shoot some stuff, then move some of the rocks and plants around and shoot a bit more. I rented some lasers from a company in Dublin too and shot a lot of it at night. Then all the animation and compositing was done in After Effects!"

Jape admitted that they were excited to be working with Finnegan on the visuals, "I've been a fan of his animation for a while and it was inspiring to see him work up close. He has an incredible attention to detail and a very open imagination. It was really easy to bounce ideas off each other."

Jape's next album titled, This Chemical Sea, is set for release early 2015 and can be pre-ordered from iTunes here, where you can pick up This Heart's Desire as a gratification track.
